FIFA has announced a partnership with YouTube as the preferred platform for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in collaboration with media partners.

The move will see FIFA’s media partners use their respective YouTube platforms to publish content that is related to the World Cup.

“FIFA is proud to announce that YouTube will be a Preferred Platform for the FIFA World Cup 2026™. In collaboration with the competition’s Media Partners and creators, this game-changing partnership between the two organisations will provide audiences with more ways to enjoy the tournament,” the statement reads.

“The innovative agreement offers Media Partners a powerful platform on their respective YouTube channels where fans will be able to experience the upcoming global showpiece. This includes the opportunity to publish extended highlights, behind-the-scenes footage, Shorts and video-on-demand content that resonates with audiences on YouTube to extend their overall reach and engagement.”

In an unprecedented move, FIFA’s Media Partners will have the option of live streaming the first 10 minutes of every match on their YouTube channels, enabling fans to experience the energy from the very first whistle.

Additionally, Media Partners will be able to stream a select number of matches in full on their YouTube channel, engaging global audiences and promoting where to watch more of the competition.

Media Partners will also have more opportunities to monetise their YouTube content.

FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström. appreciated the deal, looking at it as a way of boosting easy access of content to the fans.

“FIFA is delighted to welcome YouTube as a Preferred Platform for the FIFA World Cup 2026. By spotlighting FIFA’s premium content and unlocking new opportunities for Media Partners and creators, this agreement will engage global fans in ways never seen before,” said FIFA Grafström.

“As the world’s attention turns to the action in Canada, Mexico and the United States, this collaboration with YouTube reinforces our ambition to maximise the tournament’s impact across the ever-evolving media landscape, offering fans everywhere easy access to an immersive view of the biggest single-sport event in history.” He added.

This collaboration with YouTube consolidates FIFA’s strategy on preferred platforms and reinforces a commitment to protecting intellectual property. It will grow opportunities for Media Partners and increase promotion of the FIFA World Cup to the next generation of fans, while bringing creator perspectives to the forefront and enhancing user experience.
