52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup (Round of 16):

  • NEC 2-0 Lugazi
  • Happy Boyz Kagaba 0 (5) – 0 (4) Six O’Clock

NEC Football Club ejected Lugazi FC out of the 52nd Stanbic Uganda Cup with a 2-0 win at the MTN Omondi Stadium under sunny conditions on Tuesday, 17th March 2026.

Gideon Odongo and January window signing Samuel Ssekamatte Kayongo were on the score sheet for Badru Kaddu Mukasa’s coached side.

Odongo gave NEC the lead with a sixth-minute powerful header off Hakim Wandera’s inviting corner kick.

Two minutes later, Ssekamatte, who transferred from UPDF during the secondary players’ transfer period, buried home Emmanuel Kulanga’s delivery as the hosts extended their lead.

The second half did not produce any goals for the two sides as NEC, losing finalists in 2023 to Kitara, marched to the last eight stage.

Simon Peter Mugerwa’s coached Lugazi continues with the challenges in this season, having had a sloppy start in the league and now elimination in the FA cup.

NEC joins third division side Happy Boyz Kagaba Football Club in the quarterfinals.

Happy Boyz Kagaba eliminated O’Clock 5-4 in post-match penalties at Kagaba Primary School playgrounds in Kassanda district on Monday, 16th March 2026.

Normal time of this round of 16 contest had ended goalless before post-match penalties were called to decide the winner.

Meanwhile, KCCA will face Onduparaka on Tuesday night during another round of 16 duel at the MTN Omondi Stadium.

The successful clubs will progress to the quarterfinal stage ahead of the draw that will be supervised by the FUFA Competitions department.

The winner of the Uganda Cup earns a ticket to play at the CAF Confederation Cup.

Vipers are the cup holders.
