She Corporate ensured they kept within breathing distance of FUFA Women Super League table leaders Kawempe Muslim following their 2-1 win over Makerere University.
In the game played at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, the Sharks secured maximum points thanks to goals from Sandra Kisakye and Jesca Namanda. Substitute Noeline Namiiro got the consolation for Makerere against her former employers.
After last weekend’s defeat to Kawempe, She Corporate needed to bounce back and keep their title hopes alive.
Indeed, they showed character and determination, taking the lead just nine minutes into the game through Kisakye.
Two minutes after restart, lethal forward Namanda got the second goal for the hosts to take her goal tally to eleven. She now leads the top scorers’ chart, one ahead of Catherine Nagadya.
Namiiro came off the bench to pull one back for the University side but this only served as a consolation goal.
The result means She Corporate moves to 38 points in second place, one point behind Kawempe Muslim. Makerere University, on the other hand, remains 8th on the table with 17 points.
