Overview:
POA Series have been supported by Exim Bank, Uganda Golf Union (UGU), Vivo Energy, Aquafina, Home Bliss, MTN and Case Medical Services.
The second edition of the Pearl Of Africa (POA) Golf Series tees off on Wednesday, 1st April 2026 with the top gross players in action at the lake side par-71 Entebbe Club.
A total of fifty players were drawn for round one, six of them ladies.


Former Uganda Open ladies champions Martha Babirye and Peace Kabasweka are among the ladies in action.
The others include Peace Hellen, Harriet Kitaka, Resty Nalutaaya and Kesiha Kagoro.
The field for the men is also rich with a mixture of seasoned amateurs as well as juniors.
Joseph Cwinya-ai, Andrew Ssekibejja and Joseph Reagan Akena, two former Uganda amateur open champions lead the cast of elite gross male players in action.



“There is less room for error. I am fired up to perform well” Ssekibejja who tees off at 11:30 AM alongside Banza Matsiko and Brian Manyindo stated.
Former Uganda Golf Union president Moses Matsiko will feature in game 16 alongside Michael Kijjambu and Alex Coutinho.
Games will commence by 8:50 AM for the first tee off time until 11:30 AM with action expected to climax by evening.
The elite gross are vying for a total kitty of Ug.Shs 5,000,000.
Last year, Michael Tumusiime won the Entebbe leg with John Musiimenta taking the one at Uganda Golf Club whilst Joseph Kasozi was triumphant in Lugazi.



Meanwhile, the professionals swing into action on Thursday, 2nd April 2026 for their opening 18 holes of the competition.
This year’s kitty will be Shs27m, which represents a Shs10m increment from last year’s competition.
During the first edition; the professional events went to Marvin Kibirige (UGC), Herman Mutebi (Entebbe) and Rugumayo (Lugazi).
Organizers have also included a subsidiary category to allow golfers from all walks of life to compete on Saturday.

Launched last year at UGC, the POA Series have designed to elevate the professional golf ecosystem in Uganda to international standards.
