Harambee Stars captain Victor Mugubi Wanyama has announced retirement from professional football.

The 34-year-old who featured for different clubs including Tottenham Hotspur, Southampton and Celtic made the announcement on his official social media pages.

“Today I announce my retirement from football. Four different countries six different clubs. A boy from Muthurwa with a big dream, carrying a Nations pride every time I stepped onto the pitch,” his post on X partly read and confirmed his next path.

“To my family, friends, agent, the fans and the coaching staff that helped me throughout my career, thank you for walking this journey with me. I now take my next step into coaching where I will be completing my UEFA A license this year.”

He made over 64 caps for Harambee Stars and played at the 2019 Afcon finals in Egypt where he captained Kenya.
