The 2026 Wakiso zone schools sports championship successfully concluded at the Kabaka Kyabaggu stadium found within the WAKISHA Resource center on Tuesday, 14th April 2026.
A mammoth gathering comprising of students, school administrators, teachers, sports enthusiasts, well-wishers and the general public witnessed this climax.

Four football matches were played; two bronze medal duels and two gold medal matches.
The early kick off witnessed Light High School Sseguku win 1-0 over Boston High School Mpala for the bronze.
This was followed by Buddo S.S’ 1-0 triumph over Aidan College Ndejje in the boys’ bronze medal match.






The epic finale, watched by a big cheering crowd had record winners St Mary’s Kitende edge Kyaddondo S.S 2-1.
Jordan Tugume and Dennis Kisiriko were on target for St Mary’s Kitende whilst Rafael Masuudi had the consolation for first time finalists, Kyaddondo S.S with a well struck penalty.
In girls’ football, the final was won by Rines S.S who beat St Noa Zana 3-1 in post match penalties after a 1-all draw in normal time.

Other sports disciplines:
In the other sports disciplines played, Mbogo Mixed won Table Tennis for either gender.
For Volleyball, Kinawa High Basketball 5×5 was won by Buddo SS and St Noa Girls Zana in the boys and girls gender respectively.
3×3 version of Basketball had Mbogo Mixed as boys’ champions and St Mary’s Kitende won for the girls.
Kinawa High School won boys’ Badminton gold and St Michael International took the girls’ gold.
School won gold for girls ahead of Trinity College Nabbingo (silver) and Wampeewo Ntake (bronze).
In Lawn Tennis, St Mary’s Kitende emerged the boys’ champions as Gayaza High School took gold for the girls.
Kings College Budo won gold for Hockey.
Wakiso District Education Officer was the chief guest, flanked by the chairperson of Wakiso schools association and a number of head teachers for the different schools.

“The 2026 Wakiso zone schools sports championship was a success with the different schools taking part in the indoor and outdoor sports disciplines. The level of competition was top notch and I commend the different schools for preparing their teams well.” Gerald Katamba, chairperson hinted.
The excelling schools will represent Wakiso Zone in the nationals. USSSA Ball Games 1 (Girls football, Basketball, Table Tennis and Badminton) will be hosted at Seroma Christian School.
The USSSA U-20 boys’ football will happen in Lira.
