The Buffaloes find themselves at the helm of the Uganda Rugby championship, an enviable position the Mongers enjoyed for two game weeks.
This success has come through that signature Buffaloes’ consistency that has seen them only lose to the Pirates this season, beat Kyadondo rivals the Heathens, and pick up five winning bonus points from six wins. The Buffaloes have truly earned their place at the top, but their reign is now going to be tested by a stubborn Mongers’ side.
Mongers have been unstoppable in Entebbe, but away from home, they have suffered a heavy 61-point defeat to the Pirates at the Kings Park Arena. However, they have also shown grit to grind out results against the Walukuba Barbarians and Kakira Simbas in Jinja.
The Mongers will have to find that fight from Jinja and transfer it to Kyadondo Rugby Grounds, along Jinja Road, when they visit the Buffaloes on Saturday.
The result of this fixture is going to shake up the Top 4, where both teams are positioned. Pirates will be gunning for that top spot when they host the Kakira Simbas, while the Heathens will walk out at Kyandondo against the Rhinos earlier at 2:00 p.m.
If the Buffaloes are to stay top of the table, they need to win with a bonus point because whichever Pirates team shows up this Saturday will surely do numbers on the Kakira Simbas.
