Uganda’s KCCA Volleyball Club needed a victory in their ultimate group game at the CAVB Women’s Club Championship to advance to the Round of 16.

KCCA outclassed Volleyball Club Les Aigles du Congo (VLA) of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in a Pool C clash, cruising to a dominant straight-sets win on Friday under the bright lights of the Ahly Arena.

The impenetrable front-row defense from KCCA that turned VLA’s attacks into easy transition points right from the opening set laid a platform for the rest of the game.

That strong defence, coupled with clinical finishing at the net and strong serves, many of which were aces, earned KCCA crucial points that got them into the Round of 16.

At the knockout round, the Ugandan side will face hosts and one of the tournament favourites, Al Ahly, on Sunday evening.
