• Saturday Result: Sport-S (UGA) 0-3 Al Ahly (EGY) | 21-25, 10-25, 22-25
  • Sunday Fixture: INJS (CIV) vs. Sport-S (UGA) – 11:00 a.m. (EAT)

Sport-S suffered their second defeat at the CAVB Men’s Club Championship, falling to Egyptian giants Al Ahly in straight sets.

The Ugandan side was competitive in the opening set, but also benefited greatly from Ahly’s errors, especially on serves.

The continental giants used the first set to figure out the Ugandans. They showed their class in the second set with a solid block that gave Duke Kyomukama, Steven Mundua and Martin Tukurekwa no room to get their attack through.

While the third looked like a close contest, there was never a moment when Al Ahly looked bothered as they cruised to a comfortable win in the end.

“We expected a tough game but part of our goal is to give our players exposure and we want the young players to face teams like these to grow,” coach Malic Damulira said on giving young players like setter Devis Ssuna playing time.

Sport-S return to action tomorrow to take on AS INJS of the Ivory Coast in the first game at the BK Arena. A win for Sport-S will brighten their chance of making it into the Round of 16.
