President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to grace the inaugural Olympic Day Tooke run that is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 20th June 2026 in Bushenyi district, Western Uganda.

This run is organized by Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development (PIBID), in conjunction with the Banana Industrial Research & Development Centre (BIRDC), Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) and the Government of Uganda.

The Olympic Day Tooke run is a celebration of fitness, unity and healthy living with national pride which will be dwelt along the theme “Move, Learn, Discover with Nutrition-care”.

“In partnership with Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), Tooke run brings together people of all ages to run, jog or walk in the spirit of health, community and national wellness.” Beatrice Ayikoru, the General Secretary of Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC) remarked.

The Olympic Day TOOKE run is designed to serve strategic objectives as sponsorship of excellence (sponsor Ugandan athletes to the youth Olympic games 2026 in Senegal), raise critical nutritional support for vulnerable groups in Uganda, boost health and awareness as well as the agricultural value chain integration.

The categories will include the half marathon (21 KM), 10KM and 5 KM for recreational runners.

There will be prizes for the excelling runners per cluster.
