National Basketball League side Namuwongo Blazers has confirmed the departure of their assistant captain, Micheal Makiadi.
The development was confirmed via a club statement shared on the club’s official platform today, Monday, April 27.
“Farewell, Assistant Captain Michael Makiadi. Thank you for your leadership and dedication to the Namuwongo Blazers. Wishing you the very best ahead, always part of the family,” the statement read.
The departure of the Kenyan centre is to create space for the mid-season signing as the holding champions seek to strengthen their squad.
Makiadi’s game has been greatly limited by the nagging knee that hardly allows him to play to his best despite his great talent.
That leaves the Blazers with room to bring a more athletic big man who can show up for the team at either side of the court.
Nam Blazers will get their second round underway with an encounter against KCCA Panthers at ABJA Park, Nalya on Wednesday, April 29, 2026.
