Kitara will move within three points of leaders Vipers on the premier league standings if they overcome NEC at Royals Park Butema on Saturday.

The Royals, now on 3rd on the table with 54 points will jump second placed KCCA with a victory on the day and re-open the title race with three rounds to go after the Venoms dropped points in the 1-1 draw with URA on Friday.

In NEC, they have a tough opponent that is unbeaten in over 18 competitive matches and not conceded a goal in over nine successive matches.

Wasswa Bbosa knows how tough a game it will be in Butema but wants his charges to play with determination.

“They (NEC) are on a good run but our target is to win and keep in the race,” he stated.

NEC are 5th on the log with 47 points and will cut the lead on Villa in 4th place after they dropped points in the draw with BUL at Mutesa II stadium, Wankulukuku.

In the reverse fixture, the two teams shared spoils in a six goal thriller at Lugogo.

Overall, the two sides have crossed paths six times with NEC edging the contest with 3 wins against Kitara’s two [D1] in all competitions.

However, the Bugolobi based side are unbeaten since that 1-0 loss in the Uganda Cup final in 2024 at Wankulukuku.
