Karan Patel capitalised on Samman Vohra’s misfortunes to secure a third consecutive Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally win on Saturday.
The Pearl Rally was the second round of the African Rally Championship.
In what was a one-man show as Kenya’s Vohra led from the opening stage, fortune turned in Karan’s favour for the KCB-sponsored driver.
Vohra headed into the Mama stage with a comfortable lead of eight minutes. However, a broken shaft ended all hopes of a victory after losing over nine minutes in the stage.
That handed Karan the lead, which he held on to secure a third consecutive Pearl of Africa Rally victory.
Unlike last year, Samman Vohra did not lose it all as he managed to fix the car to finish in second position overall.
Reigning Africa rally champion Yasin Nasser settled for third position overall.
Aakif Virani was impressive on the weekend but could only settle for fourth position, followed by Jasmeet Chana.
In ARC2, Godfrey Kaguta Aine sealed the top position in the category, followed by Queen Kalimpinya.
The third round of ARC heads to Rwanda in July.
