The 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys’ football competition has officially kicked off in Lira city, Northern Uganda on Monday, 11th May.
In some of the early morning duels, hosts Lira Town College started miserably with a 1-3 defeat to Masaka city’s NUMASA Secondary School in group I.
Hassan Wasswa, Moris Segguya and Fahad Bukenya were on target for NUMASA.
In other games played; Kichwamba High School beat 1-0 over Bwera SS thanks to Robert Nkasiima’s first half headed goal at the Dr Obote College 1 playground.
At the adjacent Dr Obote College 2 playground, Madina Islamic and Kitgum Standard High School played to a goal-less draw.
Kyadondo SS gritted their teeth to beat Kigumba Intensive High School 2-1.
Rafael Masudu and Joseph Kakooza netted for Kyadondo SS whilst Victor Adoko had the consolation for Kigumba Intensive.
Ssingo SS overcame Bishop Comboni College 3-0. Julius Ngoobi scored a brace and Bashir Nasur had the other.
There was a goals’ fiesta in Masindi S.S’ 6-2 triumph over Kaserem S.S and Green Light Islamic’s 5-1 win over Dr Obote College.
Action continued with the mid-morning duels before the afternoon matches will crown the day.
The official opening ceremony will be conducted on Tuesday, 12th May 2026.
Buddo S.S is the defending champion. They opened up with a spirited display against Teso College Aleot in Group A.
