The Uganda Squash Rackets Association (USRA) convened a tranquil extraordinary assembly at the Rock Classic Hotel in Tororo Municipality, where new office bearers were confirmed.

Former USRA vice president Isa Bbale Sseremba was elected president, unopposed, for a two-year term, from 2026 to 2028.

Bbale had been serving as the caretaker acting president for the association since December 2025, following the sudden resignation of former president John Bosco Tamwesigire Ahimbisibwe.

Bbale preached teamwork upon being elected as president, outlining bold strategies to spread the game to the entire country.

“I want to thank you all, for coming to attend this assembly today, and the trust you have given me to be your president for the next two years, it is my pleasure and appeal that lets work as a team for this association, working in isolation cannot help us any more as we look at a achieving the set target of spreading the sport down up country,” Bbale remarked in his maiden speech as president.

These elections were supervised by the Assistant General Secretary at the National Council of Sports (NCS), Milton Chebet.

They were conducted in line with the association’s constitution and in collaboration with the National Council Sports Act 2023, with an overwhelming attendance of over 250 delegates.

Chebet tasked the new executive to streamline the association’s operation according to the national procedures.

“The national council of sports loves Uganda squash rackets association, that’s why I took the initiative, travelling from Kampala to Tororo to witness the election of the top membership who will be in a position to run this noble sport up to 2028,” Chebet hinted.

Edward Mubiru is vice-president, Shifa Nantabi was retained as General Secretary, and Michael Acon is the Treasurer.

Lynette Kabahenda, Aminah Nakawooya, Vicent Kibira, Ismail Bwanika and Herbert Kafrika are all executive committee members.

Uganda Squash Rackets Association (USRA) is one of the 52 sports bodies in the country directly monitored by the Government through the National Council of Sports (NCS) and Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).

As a unique indoor sport, USRA is tasked with managing and spreading this game to the different corners of the country.
