Uganda’s Cricket Cranes will take their Challenge League B preparations to Mumbai, where they will play a series of games against local sides.
The team will play five 50 Over games and three T20 games while in Mumbai.
The series will help the Cricket Cranes prepare for a strong end of year that includes the final round of the Challenge League B and the 1st round of the T20 World Cup Qualifiers in Nigeria.
The side has a new leader with Fred Achellam recalled into the side and also given the responsibilities of captaincy. Riazat Ali Shah, the regular captain, can’t travel to India due to visa issues.
The side will be joined by Alpesh Ramjani, Raghav Dhawani and Dinesh Nakrani from their base in India. Ronald Lutaaya and Sirajje Nsubuga have found places in the 16-man squad; the former has been out since the unsuccessful campaign in Zimbabwe, while the latter has had to wait a long time since his debut in 2023 during the ILT20 Cup in Nairobi.
Fast bowler Enock Kasaijja and batsman Fahad Mutagana are the debutants in the side, and their strong form in the local league has been rewarded. Mutagana is a former captain of the baby Cricket Cranes, and his explosive style will be tested in conditions that require skill to survive. Kasaijja has been putting in the hard yards after recovering from a nagging back injury, and now he is ready to be unleashed on the global stage.
Charles Mushemeza and Anas Baig have been given an extended run in the team to continue their development since making their debuts in Namibia. Unfortunately, Robinson Obuya misses out due to injury, while Matthew Musinguzi misses out as well from the team that went to Namibia early this year.
The series will run from May 16th to 31st, with the 50 Over games starting the series and the T20 games concluding the tour.
