The round of 16 clashes at the 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Boys football in Lira city, Northern Uganda was successfully completed on Saturday.
Eight exciting matches were played throughout the day.
Masaka S.S edged Lubiri S.S 1-0 at the Dr Obote College 1 playground.

Ali Ssemakula scored the lone goal in the 26th minute on the evening moments after their goalkeeper Carlton Muwonge had saved Malith Abui’s penalty.
“We had a slow start but we stabilized as the game grew and we managed to control it until the end” Rogers Lwebuga, head coach for Masaka S.S remarked.

We missed so many opportunities to score including a penalty but that is the nature of the game. We shall return stronger next season.

At the Lira Town College playground, St Mary’s Kitende ejected Madina Islamic 2-1 to confirm the eight teams for the quarter finals.
Earlier on, NUMASA S.S defeated Busia S.S with Hassan Waiswa and Viane Kalinzi on the score sheet.
Masaka S.S and Kitende joined NUMASA joined Bukedea Comprehensive South, Kyadondo S.S, Amus College School, London College Nansana and Buddo S.S to the quarter-finals.
Amus College School ejected Mentor SS 1-0 at the Dr Obote College playground with Ivan Okello on target.
The early kick off at Dr Obote College playground witnessed the cup holders Buddo S.S defeat Kawempe Muslim S.S 2-1.
Ambrose Aboy scored a brace for Buddo S.S whilst Ukasha Kimbowa got the consolation for Kawempe Muslim.
London College Nansana endured a goal-less stalemate after normal time to win the shoot-out 4-2 past Mbale Progressive Secondary School.

Quarter final match ups:
Kyadondo S.S will face Buddo S.S as Amus College School shall take on London College Nansana in the quarter finals on Sunday, 17th May 2026.
The other two semi-finals will have St Mary’s Kitende against NUMASA as Masaka S.S will take on Bukedea Comprehensive School South.
A new trophy was officially unveiled on Thursday, 14th May 2026 and will be handed over to the champions after the final on Tuesday.
