Defending Champions Buddo SS remained on course to reclaiming the USSSA U20 Boys Football Championship crown after securing a 2-1 win over Kawempe Muslim at the round of 16.

In the game played on Saturday at Dr. Obote College ground, Buddo SS had to dig deep to overcome a resilient Kawempe Muslim side.

Despite leading early through Ambrose Aboy in the 13th minute, Kawempe were able to crawl back and level matters in the second half through captain Ukasha Kimbowa’s well struck free kick.

However, Buddo SS showed their might and were able to reclaim their lead minutes later with Aboy once again scoring.

13 minutes into the game, Aboy’s feeble effort beat Kawempe’s goalkeeper thus giving getting the lead.

Kawempe tried to improve and indeed got better after recess and were able to level matter through Kikbowa’s ferocious strike from a free kick that beat goalkeeper Edirisa Waibi in the 55th minute.

Six minutes later, Buddo were able to regain their lead with Aboy being in the right place to tap home when Kawempe’s goalkeeper failed to clear the ball and granted Tom Ssesazi an opportunity to lay it on the plate for the striker.

Buddo SS will therefore face either Kyadondo SS or Nkoma SS in the quarterfinals on Sunday.
