Sunday, 17th May 2026 will forever remain a red-letter date for Kigezi Home Boyz Football Club in the history of this South Western region based entity.
On the day, Kigezi Home Boyz who are christened as the “Gorillas” gained the much-desired promotion to the Star-Times Uganda Premier League, the topmost tier on the pyramid of Uganda’s football.
Kigezi Home Boyz needed a 2-0 home victory over Blacks Power at the historic Al Madina stadium in Kabale to be promoted.
Lethal forward Dominic Abonga was the hero with a well taken brace in the second half.
Abonga’s first goal arrived in the 72nd minute with the second coming three minutes later.
The final whistle from the referee was treated with wild celebrations for the achievement attained.

Young Elephants humiliated Mbale Heroes 7-0 at the Elephants Park in Nwoya district.
Ntugasaze had a day earlier defeated Soltilo Bright Stars to make it 47 points as fourth on the table Kataka played to a 1-all draw with Kiyinda Boys away from home.
Elsewhere, Bunyaruguru United hit visiting Iganga United 2-0; Kaaro Karungi edged Wakiso Giants 1-0 in Ntungamo
Nebbi Central and CATDA played to a 1-all draw whilst the epic West Nile derby between Onduparaka and Paidha Black Angels ended goal-less.

Four clubs will be promoted to the top tier league with four clubs demoted to the respective regional leagues.
Mbale Heroes has been already relegated prior to the last two games of the season, including the away trip to Blacks Power in Lira city, Northern Uganda.
