Amus College School from Bukedea District continues to show their presence in schools football over the recent years and indeed that dominance continues after booking a slot into the final of this year’s USSSA U20 Boys Football Championship in Lira City.

Under the guidance of Coach Richard Malinga who works alongside experienced technical experts like Nimrod Kintu and Frank ‘Video’ Anyau, Amus College will be vying for this year’s crown on Tuesday against bitter rivals Bukedea Comprehensive School.

The quest for glory for Amus College School began on 11th May in Group F where they routed Trinity College Abilomino 4-0 at Dr. Obote College Playgorund in Boroboro.

Lanky striker Mudasir Ijosiga, Mathias Kasadha, John Brian Otim and Noordin Sharif Okaka were on target for coach Malinga’s outfit.

In the same group game, Amus College School edged Standard High School Zzana – Ndejje campus 1-0 courtesy of Mudasir Ijosiga’s lone goal.

Amus College wrapped up Group business with 4-1 obliteration of Mukono Kings High School. Once again Mudasir Ijosiga showed his scoring prowess by netting a halftime hat trick before Julius Etoma added the other goal. Julius Makumbi pulled one back for Mukono Kings High School.

At the round of 32, Amus College faced a tough challenge in Jinja Progressive Academy (JIPRA), a game that had to be decided on penalties after normal time ended goalless. The former went ahead to win the tense penalty shootout 4-2.

During the penalties, Mathias Kasadha, Pius Oyirwoth, Captain Iddi Jamil Rashid and Roy Olara were on target for Amus College as Morgan Sserwadda missed his kick, saved by goalkeeper Rashid Wanjala.

Joram Mukisa and Amir Tukwase scored for JIPRA as Martin Ekuma and Surez Musagala missed their respective kicks.

Amus College faced crowd pullers Mentor SS who hail from Lira at the round of 16 and indeed it was a tough battle at Dr. Obote College Playground, decided by Ivan Okello’s stunning free kick.

Mudasir Ijosiga continued with his scoring form at the quarterfinal stage and his lone strike was the difference as Amus College defeated London College Nansana 1-0 to reach the semifinals.

In the semifinals, Amus College overcame traditional giants St. Mary’s Boarding School, Kitende 4– on penalties after normal time had ended goalless.

Mathias Kasadha, Ivan Okello, Roy Olara and captain Iddi Abdul Rashid were on target for Amus College School in the shootout while St Mary’s Kitende scored their only kick through Moses Kalule as Marvin Kabiito placed his shot off the lower post and out of the goal frame while Amus goalkeeper Usama Chagama dived to his left to save a shoot from Collins Ochatre.

In the final slated for Tuesday, 19th May 2026, Amus College will be up against rivals Bukedea Comprehensive School -South.
