International Friendlies:

  • Monday, 8th June 2026: Uganda Cranes Vs Madagascar
  • Both matches in Morocco

Uganda Cranes have lined up two high-profile international friendly matches against Tanzania Taifa Stars and the islanders of Madagascar this June on the 5th and 8th, respectively, in Morocco.

Joseph Paul Put, Uganda’s head coach, released the 26-man squad that will engage in these two matches.

The Belgian is assembling a team that will compete in the forthcoming AFCON 2027 qualifiers, which commence in September 2026.

Uganda Cranes are pooled in Group H with Tunisia, Libya and Botswana.

“I think these will be two good games (against Tanzania and Madagascar) to test where we are as a team. Qualifiers for AFCON 2027 start soon in September, October, and November, so we need to be prepared,” Put revealed in an interview with FUFA.

On debutants:

Put has summoned rookies as goalkeeper David Lukwago of Sports Club Villa; his teammate Raymon Barasa Mangoli, Hassan Mubiru and Geofrey Lubangakene, as well as Noble Okello and Nathan Asiimwe.

“This squad also includes some new names, including local players who have shown their potential and talent this year. I want to give them a chance,” he added.

“We also had to deal with injuries. Players like Tobi aren’t 100% fit, and Capradossi, Alionzi, and Jude are carrying injuries. Uche hasn’t been playing regularly because his team’s season ended early, so he’s not in this squad. These are the selections for this campaign,” he concluded.
