Vipers president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa urged Ugandans to back domestic teams instead of supporting European teams.

He was speaking at the party organised to celebrate Vipers’ Uganda Premier league triumph in the 2025/26 season at St. Mary’s stadium, Kitende in the aftermath of receiving their trophy on Saturday.

Without being biased towards his own team, Mulindwa showed gratitude to all Ugandans supporting their domestic clubs.

“To all Ugandans, who have given us support by backing our Ugandans clubs to ensure they keep afloat, I am grateful,” he started.

“I respect whoever is here and donning a Vipers’ jersey,” he went on amidst cheers from the already excited crowd.

The former Fufa President took a jibe at fans who shouted Arsenal reminding them that nobody knows them at Arsenal.

“Don’t bring those Arsenal things here, for me I am grateful to those supporting Ugandan clubs. No body knows you at Arsenal,” he said.

He was grateful for winning the 8th title thanking all the fans, sponsors, technical staff and players for delivering the title once again to Kitende and warned opponents that they are not going to slow down but win it again and again.

“You all remember how we started the season in chaos but thank you for standing with us.

“We are the kings of modern football with four out of five titles post covid and I call this the modern era. We are not going to back down but continue winning and we are coming for all trophies next season as well.”

On top of the Ugx. 60 million prize money for winning the UPL, Mulindwa gave his team and technical staff Ugx. 300 million for the triumph.

“The 60 million is just fuel to bring you for training and so, as promised, I am here to deliver to you Ugx. 300 million.”

He promised better preparations for the forthcoming season as they target to get back into the Caf Champions’ League group stages.

Vipers will also represent Uganda in the Cecafa Kagame Cup due to be hosted in Kigali, Rwanda in July.
