The battle for honours at the 5th NCBA Faldo Junior Tour Kenya Championship intensified on Sunday, 31st May 2026.
The players completed the second round at Vet Lab Sports Club, with Kenya’s Tsevi Soni maintaining his position at the top of the leaderboard heading into Monday’s final round.
The championship has attracted 84 junior golfers from six nations – Kenya, Zambia, India, China, Portugal, and the United States – further underscoring its growing international stature and importance within the junior golf development pathway.
Soni, who led after the opening round, continued his strong form with a second-round gross score of 73 to remain the overall leader on 1-over par.

His round was highlighted by an eagle on the par-4 15th hole, helping him preserve a commanding advantage over the field.
He also leads the Boys Under-21 category, with Junaid Manji and Hetansh Shah tied for second place in the division on 9-over par.


A consistent round of 76 saw Yuvraj Rajput move into second place overall and take control of the Boys Under-16 category on 8-over par.
He is closely pursued by Mwathi Gicheru on 9-over par and Amar Shah on 10-over par, setting up an exciting final-day contest.


In the girls’ divisions, Maryam Mwakitawa holds the lead in the Girls Under-21 category on 14-over par, with Hazel Kuria in second place on 20-over par.
Meanwhile, Cherono Kipkorir has opened up a three-shot advantage in the Girls Under-16 category, leading on 9-over par ahead of Audrey Gachora on 12-over par.

Now in its fifth edition, the NCBA Faldo Junior Tour Kenya Championship forms part of the globally renowned Faldo Junior Tour, founded by six-time Major Champion Sir Nick Faldo.
The tournament is also recognized as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event and contributes valuable points towards the Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) Order of Merit.
Following the completion of 36 holes, the top 33 players have successfully made the cut and will return for Monday’s decisive final round, where the overall champion and age-category winners will be crowned.
The leading competitors in the four age categories, Boys Under-21, Boys Under-16, Girls Under-21, and Girls Under-16, will earn qualification to the prestigious Faldo Junior Tour European Grand Final, scheduled for 17th–19th November 2026 at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting & Golf Club in the United Arab Emirates.
They will also secure places in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) Grand Final, set to be held in Saudi Arabia in April 2027 (TBC).
With the championship entering its final day, all eyes will be on Vet Lab Sports Club as the region’s leading junior golfers compete for national honours and the opportunity to advance to the international stage.
