The highly anticipated National Basketball League (NBL) encounter between the UCU Lady Canons and the KCCA Leopards has been postponed, Kawowo Sports has learned.

The development comes as a late disruption for fans, given that the blockbuster fixture was scheduled to tip off tonight (Friday) at 7:00 PM at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya.

The game was called off due to the Lady Canons’ recent engagement in the African University Sports (FASU) Afro Varsity 3×3 Basketball Championship, which concluded in Ibadan, Nigeria.

The UCU 3×3 contingent put on a stellar performance, clinching the gold medal after defeating Kenya’s United States International University (USIU-Africa) 21-15 in the final to bring the championship trophy home.

The gold-winning roster featured Martina Anyango, Shillah Lamunu, Sylvia Nakituuka, and Zoe Atek—players who form the absolute backbone of the standard UCU Lady Canons roster.

The Lady Canons previously secured a dominant 51-34 victory over the Leopards in the first round of the season and will have to wait a little longer to try and complete a seasonal double.

While the Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) is yet to announce a rescheduled date for the fixture, Friday night’s basketball action will still go ahead, headlined by a matchup between the City Oilers and Sommet.
