Rev Prof Muranga Isabirye being welcomed in Kiruhura District

Like a fast-spreading bush fire under sunny-windy conditions, the upcoming first edition of the Olympic Day Tooke run is attaining the much-desired momentum.

The 20th June 2026 run has been amplified aloud across different forums and locations.

From the inaugural breakfast meeting held at the lavish Sheraton Kampala Hotel, there have been subsequent interfaces with the public and media in Kampala, Jinja, Bushenyi and lately Kiruhura district.

The Kiruhura engagement was organized at Mwesigwa Resort, graced by Rev. Professor Florence Isabirye Muranga, the nutrition ambassador for the Uganda Olympics and Commonwealth games.

The breakfast meeting in Kiruhura was attended by various dignitaries including local leaders, local farmers and the media.

On 20th June 2026, the historic Olympic Day Tooke run will be held in Bushenyi District, Western Uganda.

This run under the theme “Move, Learn and Discover for Nutrition Care” is organized by the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development (PIBID), Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre in conjunction with the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).

“The theme is not merely a slogan but a call to action” Rev. Professor Muranga attested.

“We move through sport, health and community engagement. We learn by embracing the science of nutrition and the innovation behind TOOKE products. We discover the power of Uganda’s own resources to fuel athletes, nurture children and strengthen communities. It is a celebration of health, innovation and national pride” Rev. Professor Muranga added.

Part of the proceeds from the run will be channeled toward to support the welfare and preparation of Ugandan athletes before and during international competitions, including the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Dakar and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

In the live span of the partnership, two multisport games; the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar this July and October respectively will be promoted to the brim.

Big prize monies:

Already, there is a hefty prize money to a tune of Ug. Shs 120,000,000 that has been put aside by the organizing committee.
