Overview:
Uganda is expected athletes in the different sports disciplines of athletics, basketball, cycling, boxing, swimming (including para),weightlifting, para powerlifting, Judo and netball.
It is barely 50 days to the long awaited 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow city, Scotland (July 23rd to August 2nd).
The respective 74 member nations and territories, Uganda inclusive are busy fine tuning their respective teams that will compete at this quadrennial international multi-sport event.
Team Uganda is expected to field a big delegation with at least 10 sports disciplines.
As part of the preparatory roadmap, the Ugandan athletes have been boosted with an assortment of TOOKE food products.

These products are made and processed by the Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre (BIRDC), an agro-based research institution in Uganda that signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC).
The high value TOOKE products given out to the athletes included instant Flour, biscuits, breakfast cereal, composite flours, banana-based beverages, industrial starch and fiber products.
All these products are intended to boost and supplement the nutrition of the athletes.

Dr Donald Rukare, the president of Commonwealth Association of Uganda lauded BIRDC for the support.
We thank our partners BIRDC for the TOOKE food products given to our athletes preparing for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. We believe they will boost them going forward. We shall have the official opening ceremony 23rd July 2026. Therefore, travel could be on 20th or 21st July tentatively. We are hoping that the present global health issue (Ebola) will not affect us. We shall keep monitoring as you respect the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). I urge you remain disciplined. Avoid competition manipulation. Each federation is in charge of preparing their own team.
Dr Donald Rukare, the president of Commonwealth Association of Uganda

There are good preparations for the Uganda team. We have a team of 10 sports disciplines. We are humbled to get some food products from Tooke that will help the athletes in their preparations.
