Marvin Kibirige had a near-perfect round on the opening day of the MTN Pro-Tee at Entebbe Golf Club on Tuesday.

Kibirige played a 3-under-68 with his scorecard reading six birdies (on holes 1, 3, 11, 13, 14, 18), nine pars and three bogeys.

“I feel happy after today’s round; it was okay. It didn’t go entirely as planned but at least I’m happy that I have the lead,” Kibirige said after holing out.

“It was not perfect out there; it was a struggle behind the scenes. I was putting well, I think it was my strongest point today, let’s see what the second round brings.

“I don’t think ahead of myself because in golf, anything can happen. It’s one shot at a time, but honestly, I came here to win.”

Meanwhile, Rodell Gaita and Vincent Byamukama are tied for second place with 69.

Joseph Mawejje played even while Siver Opio, Abraham Ainamani, and David Kamulindwa are tied for fifth place with 1-over-71.
