The Uganda Handball Women’s Super League served up an entertaining weekend of action at the Old Kampala Sports Arena as Matchday 16 delivered goals, individual brilliance, and significant results in the race for league positions.

Five matches were played across Saturday and Sunday, with Kyengeza HC emerging as one of the biggest winners of the round after securing two impressive victories, while Police HC, Mbogo High School HC, and UPDF HC also celebrated important wins.

Kyengeza HC enjoyed a flawless Matchday 16, claiming back-to-back victories to underline their growing title credentials.

On Saturday, Kyengeza edged Makerere University HC 39-36 in one of the most exciting encounters of the weekend. The contest remained closely fought throughout, with Kyengeza leading 22-18 at halftime before both sides traded goals in a thrilling second period.

Shadia Nansubuga produced a standout performance for Kyengeza, scoring 12 goals from 17 attempts, while Shakirah Nagadya added nine goals. Sabina Nangiro also contributed six goals as Kyengeza’s attack proved too strong for Makerere University HC.

Despite Makerere’s resilience and a spirited second-half effort, Kyengeza held firm to secure a valuable three-goal victory.

The following day, Kyengeza returned to the court and produced an even more commanding display, defeating Nkajja HC 48-37.

The match was effectively decided in the opening half as Kyengeza stormed into a 27-15 lead. Nkajja improved considerably after the break, winning the second half 22-21, but the damage had already been done.

For Nkajja, Drita Muwajjuma scored eight goals while Moreen Diriciru added eight more. Sarah Namuyoomba was also highly effective with seven goals from seven attempts. However, Kyengeza’s superior depth and relentless pace ensured another convincing victory.

The law enforcers took control early, establishing a 19-14 halftime lead before extending their advantage in the second half to seal a comfortable ten-goal victory.

Police HC demonstrated remarkable efficiency in attack, converting 41 of their 52 shots for a 79 per cent success rate. Their dominance from six metres was particularly impressive, where they scored 18 goals from 20 attempts.

Kawanda battled hard but struggled to contain Police’s movement and finishing ability, especially during crucial moments in the second half.
