Austria overcame Jordan 3-1 in Group J of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup at the San Francisco Bay Area stadium, Santa Clara.

Romano Christian Schmid, Yazan Al Arab (own goal) and Marko Arnautovic’s penalty gave Austria the maximum points.

Ali Olwan got the consolation goal for Jordan.

Werder Bremen’s Schmid lit up the match with a beautiful curl outside the goal area.

Yazan scored an own goal. Arnautovic scored a priceless penalty in the last minute of the 10 added minutes, cementing his status as Austria’s all-time goal scorer.

Austria is now second in Group J, behind Argentina, which humbled Algeria 3-0 with Lionel Andrés Messi scoring a hat-trick.

Portugal faces DR Congo in Group K on Wednesday, 17th June 2026, at the Houston stadium in Houston.

In Group L, England will take on Croatia at the Dallas stadium, Arlington. In the same pool, Ghana locks horns with Panama at the Toronto stadium.

The other Group K fixture has Uzbekistan tussling with Colombia at the Mexico City stadium in Mexico City.
