Erling Haaland struck a brace in Norway’s 4-1 victory over Iraq in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the Boston stadium.

Leo Ostigard and a late Aymen Hussein own goal capped the memorable evening for Norway.

Hussein had the consolation for Iraq who still have to play France and Senegal in the same pool.

Haaland was named the man of the match for his impressive display in a debut FIFA World Cup match.

Norway is now top of Group I ahead of France who defeated Senegal 3-1 earlier at the New York New Jersey stadium in the same group.

Kylian Mbappe struck a brace and Bradley Barcola scored two second half goals for the French, 2022 losing finalists to Argentina in Qatar.

Senegal pulled back a goal through Ibrahim Mbaye’s decent goal in the 5th minute of added time.

Sixty seconds later, Mbappe scored his second on the evening, France’s third with a wonder shot from 35 yards away from goal to seal the victory.

Reigning champions Argentina kicked off their title defence against North Africans Algeria at the Kansas city stadium in Kansas city.

In the same group; Austria against Jordan at the San Francisco Bay Area stadium, Santa Clara.
