Jonathan Christian David celebrates of his three goals for Canada against Qatar

Canada humiliated Qatar 6-0 in Group B of the ongoing 2026 FIFA World Cup at BC Place Vancouver.

Jonathan Christian David starred with a hat trick. Cyle Christopher Larin, Nathan Dylan Saliba and Mohammed Manal’s own goal completed the misery for Qatar, which got two red cards.

Qatar’s duo of Homam Ahmed and Assim Madibo were sent off for unsporting conduct.

Southampton’s Cyle opened the scoring in the 16th minute.

Jonathan, who features for Juventus in the Italian Serie A, added the second on the stroke of the half-hour mark.

Homam was sent off in the 33rd minute. Jonathan made it three in the third minute of added time as Canada led 3-0 by the mandatory break.

Saliba of Belgian side Anderlecht scored Canada’s 4th goal in the 65th minute.

It was 5-0 with Mohammed Manai’s own goal before Jonathan capped the icing on the already baked cake in the 92nd minute.

The hat trick for Jonathan is the second in the tournament after Lionel Messi of Argentina.

This is Canada’s first-ever win at the FIFA World Cup and a massive step towards qualification for the Round of 32.

Earlier in the same group, Switzerland whipped 10-man Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-0 at the Los Angeles Stadium.

Johan Manzambi scored a brace, with Ruben Vargas and Granit Xhaka (penalty) adding the other goals.

Bosnia and Herzegovina completed the game with a man less after the sending off of defender Tarik Muharemovic in the 80th minute.

Bosnia and Herzegovina pulled a goal back through a stunning Ermin Mahmic wonder strike from 35 yards in the third minute of added time.

Canada is at the top of Group B because of a better goal difference than Switzerland.

Bosnia and Herzegovina and Qatar have each picked up a point.
