Kampala Queens are the Winners of the 2026 FUFA Women’s Cup after defeating Kawempe Muslim 2-0 in the final played on Sunday at FUFA Stadium, Kadiba.

The Queens of Soccer encrypted their name on the winners’ list for the first time, thanks to a commanding display.

The two teams were fully deserving of reaching the final given their performance in this competition. Kawempe were seeking to complete a domestic double while Kampala Queens were seeking redemption given their poor run in the League.

On the day, it was Kampala Queens who showed character and precision, winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Joanitah Ainembabazi and Kamiyati Naigaga.

It should be noted that the duo has been efficient in Kampala’s journey to success. They scored at home and away in the semifinals against the Lady Doves.

Ainembabazi opened the scoring with an acrobatic kick, capitalising on poor handling by goalkeeper Saidat Namwanje in the 34th minute.

Despite Kawempe stepping up efforts in search of an equaliser thereafter, it was Naigaga who sealed the victory and title for Kampala Queens with a stoppage-time goal.

A long clearance by Catherine Nagadya found Naigaga with only defender Aminah Nakato, whom she beat for pace, rounded off the goalkeeper and tucked the ball into an empty net.

Kampala Queens become the seventh team to win the FUFA Women’s Cup in as many editions.
