Cabo Verde continued to write history at the on-going 2026 FIFA World Cup co-hosted by United States of America (USA), Mexico and Canada.

A point secured after their second consecutive game gives the West Africans a beam of hope prior to the final group stage encounter with Saudi Arabia.

Cabo Verde held Latin Americans Uruguay to a 2-all draw at the Miami Stadium, Miami Gardens on Sunday evening in Group H.

Maximillano Javier Araujo Vilches and Agustin Canobbio Graviz scored Uruguay’s goals.

Kevin Lenini Goncalves Pereira de Pina and Hello Sandro Oliveira Alves Varela were on score sheet for Cabo Verde.

Pina who features for Russian club Krasnodar gave Cabo Verde the lead with a stunning low driven free-kick in the 21st minute.

Sporting C.P attacker Araujo replied with a great diving head in the 44th minute.

Uruguay took the first half lead through Fluminense’s Canobbio in the second minute of added time.

Maccabi Tel Aviv’s Varela got the equalizer for Cabo Verde who fought on to get the point.

Spain leads Group H with four points following their comprehensive 4-0 victory over Saudi Arabia at the Atlanta stadium.

Mikel Oyarzabal Ugarte struck a brace as Lamine Yamal Nasraoui Ebana and Hassan Attambakti own goal sealed their victory.

Yamal became Spain’s second youngest player to score at the FIFA World Cup after Xavi.

Final Group Games:

Group H final two matches will be played on 27th June 2026 at the same day and time.

Spain takes on Uruguay at Estadio Guadalajara Zapopan and Cabo Verde will face Saudi Arabia at the Houston stadium.
