Uganda U17 Women’s Football National Team are the Champions of the 2026 CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship after overcoming Tanzania in the final on Tuesday.
The Teen Cranes cruised to a 3-0 victory to defeat hosts Tanzania at the KMC Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
Justine Ayerango, Brenda Nassaka and Flavia Yagala scored a goal each to guide Uganda to success.
Uganda ended the tournament on a perfect note winning all the five games played and conceeding no goal.
In the group stage, Uganda defeated Djibouti 13-0, edged South Sudan 4-0 and won 3-0 against Zanzibar. In the semifinals, Uganda got better of Kenya with a 3-0 win.
Coach Sherly Botes was delighted with the success and indicated the players performed according to plan.
“I am very happy that the team followed instructions and won all the five matches played in the tournament. I want to thank them for the hardwork and I believe this group has a bright future ahead,” she said.
Kenya took third place after outwitting South Sudan 7-0.
