Uganda successfully defended the CECAFA U17 Women’s Championship title after edging Tanzania on Tuesday in Dar es Salaam.
The Teen Cranes cruised to a 3-0 win at the KMC Stadium thanks to goals from Justine Ayerango, Brenda Nassaka and Flavia Ayagala.
Beyond the trophy, there were some individual players who were awarded for their excellent performance throughout the tournament.
Forward Shadia Nabirye was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, given her influence in all the games Uganda played.

Nabirye, a student and player at Kawempe Muslim Ladies, scored six goals in five games.
Uganda’s goalkeeper Mayimuna Namuwaya took the Golden Glove after ending the tournament without conceding any goals.

The top scorer’s gong went to Tanzania’s Bahati Kizanguzi, who netted ten goals in five games.

It should be noted that Uganda won all five games they played, scoring 26 goals and conceding none.
