Switzerland beat Canada 2-1 to top Group B of the 2026 FIFA World Cup at the BC Place stadium in Vancouver.
Ruben Estephan Vargas Martinez and Johan Manzambi were on target for Switzerland in the 46th and 57th minutes respectively.
Promise Oluwatobi Emmanuel David Akinpelu got the consolation for Canada before a fully packed stadium.

After a goal-less first half, the game came to life a minute after restart in the final stanza.
Sevilla’s Vargas scored the opener with Manzambi adding the other ten minutes later.
Promise who turns out out for Belgian Pro League Union SG pulled back a goal for Canada with 14 minutes left on the clock to give a worthy tense finish to the game.
This was Switzerland’s second victory of the campaign as they settled with seven points to top the pool.

Meanwhile, in the same group; Bosnia and Herzegovina won 3-1 over Qatar at the Seattle stadium.
Kerim Alabegovic, Sultan Al-Brake (own goal) and Ermin Mahmic found the goals for Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Hassan Al-Haydos got the consolation for Qatar who bow out of the championship with a single point.
Bosnia and Herzegovina has four points and leads the chase for the eight third placed sides that will join the 24 teams from the 12 groups.
