Argentina made it three victories out of three group J matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

A well earned 3-1 win over Jordan spurred the reigning World champions to yet another maximum points at the Dallas stadium.

Giovani Lo Celso put Argentina ahead in the 19th minute. Lautaro Martinez scored a penalty on the half hour mark as the South Americans doubled their lead.

Musa Al-Taamari pulled back a goal for Jordan in the 55th minute.

It was another piece of history for the Argentina captain Lionel Andres Messi who came off the bench to score a delightful free kick with ten minutes left on the clock.

Messi took his tournament tally to six goals, becoming the first player in the history of the competition to score in 7 consecutive FIFA World Cup matches.

The Inter Miami forward also further extended his overall goal tally to 19 in all matches.

Meanwhile, Algeria and Austria played to a 3-all draw as both countries qualified to the round of 32 at the Kansas city stadium.

Riyad Mahrez scored a brace and Rafik Belghali struck the other goal.

Austria’s goals arrived from Marko Arnautovic, Marcel Sabitzer and Sasa Kalajdzic.

Both Algeria and Austria ended on four points to qualify for the round of 32 stage.

Austria qualified in second place (on better goal difference) with Algeria among the best third placed countries.

Algeria will play Switzerland in Vancouver on 2nd July 2026 whilst Austria will take on Spain in Inglewood on the same day.
