Kitara Football Club is on cloud nine after the National Council of Sports (NCS) approved their request to utilize the newly constructed Hoima City stadium for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup games.

National Council of Sports’ General Secretary Dr. Patrick Benard Ogwel made the confirmation to the two time Stanbic Uganda Cup winners.

“This is inform you that National Council of Sports has cleared your club to use the Hoima City stadium as host venue for the CAF Confederation cup matches. The same memo was copied to the chairman, National Council of Sports (Ambrose Tashobya), FUFA Chief Executive Officer (Edgar Watson Suubi), Kitara football club president (Deo Kasozi), senior engineer at National Council of Sports (Simon Mwesigye), Hoima City stadium manager (Moses Ogeny).

The development comes just weeks after state minister of sports Hon. Peter Ogwang confirmed that Hoima City stadium will be used by Kitara to host their CAF engagements.

The last time Kitara played on the continent, they played their home game away in Libya due to unavailability of facilities at the time in Uganda.

During the final of the 2025/26 Stanbic Uganda Cup, Kitara overcame Sports Club Villa 2-1 to win and earn the ticket to represent Uganda on the continent.

Kitara Football Club is yet to learn their opponent in the preliminary stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
