Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC have confirmed French experienced gaffer, Denis Lavagne as the club’s new head coach.
The journeyman has been handed a two-year employment contract to replace Ivan Jacky Minnaert, who was released at the end of the campaign.
The development was confirmed on Tuesday, June 30, via the club’s official website.
“SUPL champions Vipers SC have appointed highly experienced French tactician Denis Lavagne as the club’s new head coach,” the statement partly reads
He has coached in countries like France, Cameroon, Tunisia, Egypt, Morocco, South Africa, Sudan, Algeria, Tanzania, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and China.
Lavagne’s continental experience and knowledge will be key in Vipers’ struggle to make a mark in the CAF Champions League.
His most successful spell was with Cameroonian side Coton Sport, where he guided the team to four Elite One League titles, three Cameroonian Cups and also reached the 2008 CAF Champions League Final.
That successful journey of domestic and continental achievements earned him an appointment as the Head coach of the Cameroon National team.
The French is set to work with John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda as the First Team Assistant coach and Belgian performance specialist Salmi Yassine, who will hold the role of Head of Performance and Fitness coach.
