France will face Paraguay at the round of 16 during the on-going 2026 FIFA World Cup in Philadelphia.
This fixture was confirmed after France’s dominant 3-0 victory over Sweden in the round of 32 at the New York New Jersey Stadium.
Kylian Mbappe got a brace and Bradley Barcola the other as Didier Deschamps’ side sailed through.
Mbappe got the opener on the stroke of half time. Barcola added the second goal eight minutes into the second half before Mbappe complete his brace with a quarter an hour to play.
The French captain has now scored six goals, level as Argentina’s Lionel Messi.

France thus booked an epic round of 16 duel against Paraguay on 4th July 2026 at Philadelphia stadium.
The South Americans eliminated four-time champions Germany 4-3 in post match penalties after a 1-all stalemate following 120 minutes of football at the Boston stadium.
Besides France and Paraguay, other successful countries thus far at the round of 16 include the likes of Canada, Brazil, Morocco and Norway who have already secured their tickets.
