Brian Ssenyondo and Simeon Masaba

KCCA have moved from the co-coaching set up they had last season with Brian Ssenyondo now named head coach.

The gaffer worked alongside Jackson Magera as co-coaches in the 2025/26 season in which the Kasasiro again fell short in both the league and the Uganda Cup.

Magera, previously working behind head coaches Mike Mutebi, Morley Byekwaso and Abdallah Mubiru now reverts to the same role and will be the first assistant to Ssenyondo.

“KCCA FC has officially named Brian Ssenyondo as the Head Coach ahead of the 2026/27 season…,” read a statement in parts on the club website.

“Ssenyondo takes full charge of the technical wheel. To ensure a cohesive system, the club has surrounded him with top-tier tacticians.

“Ssenyondo will be directly supported by Jackson Magera Kaddu as the 1st Assistant Coach and Simeon Massa as the 2nd Assistant Coach,” the statement further read.

Ssenyondo has experience of being a stand alone tactician having managed at Synergy, Mbarara City and Kitara in the past winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup with the latter.

Why the change?

It remains a mystery why the 13-time champions have made the change but retained same personnel.

Could it be the two failed to get on being at the same level with neither taking full charge? That we may never know.

However, there is also a theory of trying to be within Fufa guidelines for the forthcoming season where both the head and assistant coach must hold CAF A coaching licenses.

Both Ssenyondo and Magera hold the certificate but Simeon Masaba and Sakka Mpiima are yet to attain it so it could be a move to get on with Fufa but roles remain.

The Cityzens kicked off their pre-season on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, ahead of the 2026/27 season.
