The organizers of the Fortebet Real Stars Monthly award rewarded the slain rugby star Sydney Gogondyo with a posthumous award.
This happened during the crowning ceremony for the month of June 2026 at Nanjing Hotel in Kololo, Kampala.
Gogondyo is a former Stanbic Black Pirates player who was killed by an angry mob in Ntinda, a suburb of the capital city, Kampala under unclear circumstances.
This is the second posthumous award that the Real Stars Sports Agency is giving out after Charles Muhangi, the 1998 African Rally Champion.

Other top performers in June 2026:
Allan Okello (Football), Hassan Alwi and Musa Nsubuga (Motorsport), Yasin Wasswa (Rugby) and Ukasha Matovu (Boxing) were all rewarded.
Okello guided Yanga Football Club to the 2026 Tanzania Premier League title with a combined 14 goals in as many matches, all played in the second half of the season.

Boxer Ukasha Matovu edged other nominees Emily Nakalema and Kato Kazibwe following an impressive victory over Katabi Boxing Club’s Isaac Kasasa.
“Organizers for these awards should prepare more plaques because I will not continue winning” Matovu stated.
