Sommet beat Rezlife Saints, thus forcing a game three in the ongoing National Basketball League playoff quarterfinal.
Sommet secured a well-deserved 84-67 victory against Rezlife Saints in the NBL encounter at Rezlife Court, Lubowa on Wednesday.
Sommet came out of their blocks early as Brighton Galiwango dropped a long shot to set his side in motion. Ekau Edrine found two big baskets, but the Saints trailed by two points (18-16) at the end of the frame.
Sommet put pressure on the Rezlife guards, limiting rhythm and forcing them into back-to-back turnovers. Joseph Chuma concluded the frame with a jump shot as Sommet opened a 10-point lead going into the halftime break.
Coming from the long break, Sommet opened a 10-0 run before Ekau responded with a long shot beyond the perimeter. Going into the final frame, Rezlife held onto an 11-point lead.
The home side tried to increase the pace of the game and run down Sommet, but the latter were up to the test. Sommet kept composed and secured a 17-point victory.
Pauti Kikomba Osias’s presence was key at either end of the court, securing a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Peter Cheng (24 points) and Dieu Thuok Kuol (21 points) joined Sommet’s scoring chart in double digits.
On the other hand, Ekau (25 points) and Hon Kwany (16 points) led the Saints’ scoring chart in double digits.
