Crested Cranes captain Fauzia Najjemba will not feature for her club Boston Legacy again this season after suffering a long term injury.
The club that features in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in the United Stated confirmed that the forward sustained an injury and is ruled out for the rest of the season.
“On July 9, Boston Legacy FC forward Fauzia Najjemba suffered a rupture of her right rectus femoris tendon during a team training session. Najjemba will be re-evaluated biweekly by Dr. Kelly McInnis of Massachusetts General Brigham during her rehabilitation. Najjemba will be placed on the Season-Ending Injury List and is expected to make a full recovery.” Confirmed the club.
Najjemba, 22, joined Boston Legacy from Dynamo Moscow in Russia at the start of this year, signing a two-year deal.
However, her debut season in USA has come with injury challenges, this being her second in recent months. She had suffered a hamstring injury back in April and was sidelined for two months.
On her return, she came on as a substitute in the 2-2 draw against Bay FC, being involved in the equalizer.
As the team was preparing to face Chicago Stars on 11th, she picked up the most recent injury two days before the match.
Najjemba is only the second Ugandan female footballer to sign for a club in the NWSL, often regarded as the best Women’s Football in the world. Shadia Nankya signed for Washington Spirit last year but has crossed over to France to join Le Havre.
