Namuwongo Blazers run over UCU Canons in game one of the semifinals of the National Basketball League playoffs.

Nam Blazers secured a well-deserved 89-62 victory against UCU Canons in the NBL encounter at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Wednesday evening.

The Blazers continued to prove that they are a step above the Canons, setting positive momentum in the best-of-five series.

The Canons started the game with a 7-0 run. However, the Blazers fought back and tied the game at 17-17 by the end of the first period.

In the second frame, the Blazers turned up with a full-court press, forcing the Canons into several turnovers. Going into the break, the Blazers opened up a 15-point (46-31) lead going into the long break.

Coming from the half-time break, the Canons greatly improved their defensive structure but amidst the hard work from the Mukono-based side, the Blazers took a 19-point lead to the final quarter.

In the final frame of the game, the Canons were once again overwhelmed, managing to score only nine points as the Blazers claimed a decisive victory.

Kasereka Tembo (22 points), Innocent Ochera (21 points) and Peter Obleng (13 points) led the Blazers scoring chart in double digits.

On the other side of the court, Daniel Muganzi was the only player to reach double digits after dropping 12 points.
