UCU Lady Canons have tightened their grip on the series by extending the lead with a back-to-back victory in game two.
UCU Lady Canons secured a well-deserved 63-56 victory against KCCA Leopards in the NBL semifinal Playoffs at Lugogo Indoor Arena on Sunday.
Sylvia Nantongo got the game underway with a 3-point pull-up jumpshot before Tracy Namugosa responded with a perfect trip to the line. At the end of the opening frame, the Canons opened a five-point (19-14) lead.
Going into the long break, the Lady Canons held on to keep a six-point lead (33-27) keeping the fans on the edges of their seats.
Coming from the halftime break, the KCCA Leopards turned up with a full-court press, thus reducing the deficit to three points (42-45) at the end of the third quarter.
In the final quarter, the Lady Canons stepped up the rhythm before Sharua Nakirya sealed the frame with 3-point jump shot as the Leopards trailed by seven points.
Matrina Anyango recorded a double-double dropping 28 points and pulling down 16 rebounds for the Lady Canons.
Sylvia Nantongo as well recorded a double-double scoring 11 rebounds and made 11 rebounds.
On the other hand, Ninette Uwineza (12 points), Sharua Nakirya (12 points) and Tracy Namugosa (10 points) led the Leopards’ scoring sheets in the double digits.
