Uganda’s dynamic Table Tennis duo of Jemimah Nakawala and Parvin Judith Nangonzi won bronze at the U-19 Girls doubles during the 2026 ITTF Africa Youth Championship in Accra city, Ghana.
The pairing faced the hard-battling Egyptians Abdelsala Darin and Farida Thabet, narrowly falling 2-3.
The Egyptians led set one 11-5 with the Ugandans clawing back 11-7 to level the series.
Abdelsala and Thabet once again restored their lead 11-7 before Nakawala and Nangonzi fought gallantly to win game four 11-4 and force a decider that they lost 7-11.
Meanwhile, Joseph Sebatindira beat Ghana’s Israel Akinle 3-2 to storm the quarter final in the boys’ U-15 category.
Akinle led the opening two sets 12-10 and 11-8 before the all conquering youngster punched back to win the three subsequent sets; 11-9, 11-5 and a nail biting 14-12 in the decider.
Patience Anyango overcame Nigerian Sezuo Aziza 3-2 (11-7, 4-11, 11-9, 2-11 and 6-11) to qualify for the girls’ U-15 category.
The championship is being hosted at Ghana’s expansive Bortyeman Sports Complex on the outskirts of Accra city.
