Egypt will mark their return to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations after a decade with a mountain challenge against giants Zambia on Tuesday (kickoff at 8PM EAT).
The Cleopatras haven’t played at the tournament since 2016 and will face one of the most dominant teams on the continent in recent times.
Mohamed Kamal the head coach of Egypt is aware of the task ahead but believes the team is capable is taking on every one.
“Zambia have great international experience, with powerful strikers and a group that has been playing together for a long time. But our team is young, lively and full of technical qualities. The task will be difficult but not impossible.” He said.
His counterpart, Nora Häuptle says believes a good performance will bring good results.
“We are convinced that when we put in a good performance, the result follows automatically. Over the last few months, we have developed new tactical set-pieces to increase our flexibility. We know exactly how to approach this fixture with a plan A, B or C.” She stated.
Zambia will bank on the experience of skipper Barbara Banda, lethal forward Rachael Kundananji and Grace Chanda.
The game will be officiated by Ugandan referee Shamirah Nabadda. The other game in Group C will see defending Champions Nigeria take on Malawi.
