As you enter the main gate of Mackay Memorial College Nateete, your eyes are greeted by a semi-finished building block on your right hand.

It is evident that construction is still on-going with the metallic poles peeping out off first floor for this storied building to-be.

The basement of this multi-purpose building is already being used for classes by part of the 2000 students’ current population.

To complete this gigantic building is now the main cause and focus that the school administration led by the shrewd head teacher Janet Harriet Kato Namiiro has fronted.

For this particular cause, at least Ug.Shs 1.4 billion is required to complete this noble cause and the upcoming Zzimba Mackay Run is one of the mechanisms sought to raise this figure.

The Zzimba Mackay Run for starters will take place on Saturday, 8th August 2026 with categories in the 3KM, 5KM and 10KM events as running kits go for Ug.Shs 20,000 each.

“I am humbly calling upon parents, old students, well-wishers and concerned Ugandans to come and fundraise for the building block as we help our learners. We need Ug.Shs 1,459,000,000 to complete the building” Namiiro who joined the school as head teacher in late 2025 states.
