Since 2023, JubileeLife Insurance has partnered with Masaka Cycling Club to support the development of competitive cycling in Uganda and facilitate the club's participation in the annual Jubilee Live Free Race.
Jubilee Life Insurance, in partnership with Masaka Cycling Club, brought together cyclists from across Uganda for a community race at Bukalasa Villa Maria.
This is part of the preparations for 2026 Jubilee Live Free Race, East Africa’s premier cycling and wellness event, which will be held in Nairobi city, Kenya on Sunday, 27 September 2026.
The 72-kilometre race featured the men’s, women’s and Black Mamba categories, with participants competing for a total cash prize of UGX 990,000.
Beyond the competition, the event formed part of a broader effort to strengthen Uganda’s cycling ecosystem while providing riders with valuable race experience ahead of the regional event in Nairobi.

The partnership has helped position Uganda among the strongest competitors at the event, with the country’s riders consistently delivering outstanding performances and earning podium finishes against some of East Africa’s top cyclists.
Speaking during the event, Jubilee Life Insurance CEO Eugine Mutekhele, said the community race reflects the company’s commitment to promoting physical and financial wellness while creating opportunities for cyclists to develop and compete on larger regional platforms.

Our partnership with Masaka Cycling Club reflects our commitment to helping communities thrive while nurturing cycling talent that will represent Uganda on the regional stage at this year’s Jubilee Live Free Race in Nairobi,” Mutekhele remarked.
Masaka Cycling Club Chairperson Ismail Lance welcomed the continued partnership, noting that the support from Jubilee Life Insurance has played a significant role in the club’s growth over the past three years.

He added that preparations for this year’s event are already well underway, with today’s race forming a key part of the team’s build-up to Nairobi.
Our goal this year is to maintain our position among the top-performing teams while pushing ourselves to achieve even greater success. Today’s community race has given our riders another opportunity to test themselves, build endurance and sharpen their competitiveness ahead of September. We remain excited about representing Uganda once again and appreciate the company’s continued investment in our club and the development of cycling in the country.

Jubilee Live Free Race has grown into one of East Africa’s largest cycling and wellness events, bringing together professional cyclists, amateur riders, families and fitness enthusiasts from across the region.
The 2026 edition is expected to attract more than 5,500 participants, underscoring its growing role in advancing physical wellness, encouraging active lifestyles and strengthening regional sporting collaboration.
Through sustained partnerships with clubs such as Masaka Cycling Club, Jubilee Life Insurance continues to invest in the growth of cycling across East Africa, using sport as a platform to promote healthier communities while creating opportunities for athletes to compete, excel and inspire the next generation.
Davis Biyinzika won the Masaka main race (72 KM) whilst Alexanderia Nakassanga triumphed in the girls’ race (30 KM).
